Perhaps not that unusual, but it seems to be more pronounced of late. Part of my problem these days is that I've got several interests pulling me all over the place. And everything is only getting partially done. So what's happening?
Probably the biggest news is that (touch wood) we will soon have a place of our own again. We've made an offer on a home here and it has been accepted. Lawyers are involved now and there is only one little bit of financing to put to bed. That and the owner needs a place before we get a possession date. You can not believe how much we're looking forward to having more than one bedroom, and have all of our stuff in one place and accessible.
Its a large house but it needs a lot of work, mostly flooring, kitchen and paint, but the good news is I have those skills. The friends place that I work out at is the exact same floor plans so my weight routines are punctuated with reno plans in my head, and I actually had a tape measure out after the last workout.
I also have a job prospect coming up very soon. As much as I was looking forward to finally having a spring free of commitments, filled with opportunities to get out on the land, a rapidly dwindling savings account and the aforementioned renovations means I need more income than my pension and Leah's slave wages. The upshot is that I'm actually qualified for this one, so I stand half a chance. I know there are others that are considering the job that are probably better qualified but we'll see. Construction season isn't far off and I will have a job there if nothing else.
Perhaps because of the prospect of some free time this spring my thoughts continually turn south. I'm jealous of all the bloggers down south who are getting a continual influx of bird migrants for spring. We're well over a month away from our earliest migrants and I'm anxious. Part of the reason is because I actually have goals this year. There are a couple of big bird questions that I'd like to answer for myself this spring. I'm tickled that I might be able to expand a bit of what we know about the breeding birds of the High Arctic. Tickled that I might actually have something to contribute. That and I've made plans to see places that I've yet to see in my time up here.
I've watched my writing fritter away this winter. I should have had more opportunity to write this year than any, but haven't taken advantage of it. But through it all, I've come up with some plot ideas that are exciting, and I've taken to make some starts on them.
Now if my days weren't filled with the daunting task of trying to decide on flooring online I'd maybe even start answering my email backlog.
