It has been a fairly busy season up here for visits by ships and yachts. I suppose a harbinger of things to come, between the Naval facility and the opening up of the Northwest Passage. At one time, during Operation Nanook we had four ships in Arctic Bay, two Naval and two Coast Guard, and currently there are three at anchor out there.
So here is a little photo homage to some of our visitors so far this year.
The CCGS Henry Larson as darkness fell last night
and as she steamed away, last visit
The CCGS Terry Fox and Des Grosielliers
The MV Nanny preparing to replenish our fuel supplies
The HMCS Moncton at anchor
and from another perspective
The CCGS Des Grosiellier and the frigate HMCS St John's
The sleek yacht Billy Budd
The opulent yacht Asteria
and my favourite ship photo of the summer, that the CCGS Des Grosielliers plays but a supporting role.
