On Wednesday of this coming week, there will be a full eclipse of the moon, visible over most (if not all) of North America. I believe that it is happening around 10pm EST but check your local listings. Whatever time it starts rest assured it will be half past something else in Newfoundland. This will apparently be the last full eclipse visible here until 2010, so it will be worth bundling up for.
In the mean time, here is a picture of the waxing moon over King George, taken from today. I really need to start lugging my tripod around.
In unrelated news, the checklists from Nunavut for the Great Backyard Bird Count have been just pouring in. No, not really, so far there's been just three, all from Arctic Bay. It's easy to submit a report online, and you know you want to be outside anyway this weekend.
