A little while back Townie Bastard posted an interesting bit about small nuclear reactors, that seem to have some potential for power in remote (read Arctic) areas. It was intriguing, but I have to admit that there is something off putting about nuclear power. Which makes this article all that more interesting.
It doesn't say how far away this technology is, but the idea of being able to power communities in Nunavut by the tide (and all but one is located on the ocean), even at low current speeds, certainly is appealing. How great would that be if a small array of these devices on the floor of Arctic Bay could supply all of our power?
