Yesterday was the Winter Solstice, and now the sun has begun its journey back to the Arctic. The reality, of course, is the tilt of the earth has now started to swing around to our favour, but the sun beginning a journey sounds, better.
This photo was taken around 1:30 this afternoon. I had to play with the exposure a little, but this is a pretty good approximation of how dark it is at the peak of our sunless period. As you can see we always have a little light, even this on our darkest day.
So now the light will grow, every day. In six short weeks the Sun will peak over the Horizon, above the hills to the South. The journey back to us will be complete.
